I’m pleased to say that the last [solo autobiographical show] I saw, A Reasonable Fear of Tubas, hit that sweet spot: a well-done autobiographical show that got its message across well but didn’t overstay its welcome. Full writeup at https://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=14469... full review

When an actress is able to grab my attention and keep it without me noticing an hour going by, is awesome! Stacy's story was woven seamlessly and she was so comfortable in her skin, we the audience were happy to go along for the ride. ... full review

This show was very entertaining as actor/writer Stacy Patterson took us on a journey through her own life using stories that many of us in the audience, regardless of age, can relate too. Especially the idea of phobias we carry with us throughout our lives, and how they manifest in our life as we grow up and join society. I laughed a lot and left feeling great. I wasn't sure what the show was about - scary tubas?!? - but I went on the recommendation of a friend and I am very happy I did. ... full review

You'll never look at sharks (or tubas) the same way again! Stacy takes us on a relatable and heartfelt journey through her experiences from childhood onward. She does strong character work and has warm, friendly presence on stage. The fascinating shark facts punctuate her memory play with a dash of metaphor, and they're also really interesting!... full review

For me the show was a heartfelt, transportive, experience that was funny, touching, wise and sweetly performed. Stacy is a wonderful storyteller and a great painter of "pictures." The show is a cleverly constructed autobiographical journey of a fearless woman - well she's almost fearless! She explores in captivating tales some of the things that formed her, and the one thing that she is really, really scared of. This is a show well worth going to see. You will be uplifted and amused.... full review
