Saw ABSOLUTELY FILTHY for the 2nd time last night (it originated at Sacred Fools this past winter.) They've built on top of an already-great show: the Fringe version is funnier, faster, tighter, more outrageous, more deeply felt, more everything (you get it.) Congrats to Brendan Hunt (force of nature), Director Jeremy Aldridge (brilliant soul man), and the whole AB-FILTHY cast and company(fearless)!!! P.S. Special nod to the original Music by Michael Teoli (!)... full review

Wow, really funny, and touching. Brendan Hunt tore it up and is supported by a terrifically cast ensemble.... full review

I just got back from Absolutely Filthy and I loved it. Brendan Hunt's performance as an adult homeless Pigpen is at once sharply funny, deeply moving, and utterly fearless--all while hula hooping a "cloud of dirt" the entire time! Hunt also wrote the piece making the show a real tour-de-force. The rest of the cast is excellent as well, balancing the heavy material with a steady stream of laughs. I particularly enjoyed Franklin (whose name no one can remember) and Linus (who has graduated to stroking a blue hanky). Whether you're a fan of the Peanuts, quality live theater, or just want to experience a rarely honest and vulnerable performance that stays with you long afterward, do yourself a favor and see this show. This is why the Fri... full review

Turning beloved childhood cartoons into full breathing human characters must not have been an easy task but in Absolutely Filthy playwright Brendan Hunt, aided with a playful and committed cast, did exactly that. Brendan also stars at "the Mess" or Pig-Pen, and as such he is riveting. His nuanced performance of a man riddled with self-doubt and guilt, his biting and hilarious retorts, as well as his palpable need for the human connection he once shared are engrossing and to top it off he hula-hooped the whole time! I can't hula hoop for one second. I digress. Shannon Nelson as "the Bereaved" or Sally stole my heart. Her face warm and lovely, with big open eyes draws you in and the moments between the Bereaved and the Mess were my favorites. ... full review

Great fun. Excellent work by the ensemble. Nice O.Henry style twist at the end. Some of the best moments were the unscripted ones.... full review

Such a good show, I bought a pair of tickets for my sister to see with her best bud and they loved it too. There's witty dialogue, flashbacks, and even Jesus! The attention to detail, it's all the little things that make this show very special. Well timed humor, emotional dialogue, and a shot at redemption; so glad I caught it!... full review

I attended the show on opening night and my date and I were sincerely blown away. The story is very well written/performed and laughs are so frequent that there is never a lull. Absolutely Filthy is one of the best plays I've seen in my life. The type of story you tell co-workers about the next day and recommend. I could go on about the wonderful performances by the cast, but I didn't come here to sound like some seasoned play critic because I'm not. I just I know really enjoyed this show and feel most others will too.... full review

This is a very funny show. This is also a very painful show. Throughout, you feel sympathy for someone's loss. You feel anger at the friendships that have soured. And you feel joy, because a piece of hope exists. This is a very good show.... full review

I wish there was a fourth option and I would give this show a "mixed" review instead of a negative. I should say that there were a majority of the audience that clearly liked or loved this production as at least half stood for the curtain call. But the woman near me and about 4 or 5 other people left at intermission. I consider doing so as well. This show has gotten a lot of praise including positive press reviews. While I occasionally found the funny and strangely moving, I'm not at all convinced that the reason I was moved was half because of the work of Charles Schultz. After all, those iconic characters have already created a baseline of emotion that the writer could tap into with a lot less work than if he was building characters from... full review
