From the second the lights go down and the audience is treated to an early 90's hip-hop dance routine that looks like it came straight out of an elementary school talent show, Germaine really takes you back to the good ol' days. It's a funny and sometimes touching look at growing up in a tough Long Island clan with three brothers. This is a great show to see with your siblings - no matter if you were the victim or the perpetrator growing up. The energy is great, the show is a lot of fun, and the lead is easy on the eyes. She perfectly captures the nostalgia of all of us who grew up too late for Gen X and too soon to be Millenials. Definitely check it out and be prepared to have a good time!... full review

True to its title everything in "Germaine" is vital and relevant and nothing superfluous or self-indulgent. A one-woman show about family, it finds room to memorialize an historical time and place and follow the twists and turns of relationships in transition. With humor, originality and energy it explores love, the longing to belong, and the surprising ways life sometimes fulfills one's expectations.... full review

Rachel Germaine offers an exuberant, high-energy glimpse into her Long Island upbringing, suffering under the hands of tyrannical brothers and her journey toward acceptance. Told with humor and razzle-dazzle, what could simply be an anti-bullying, coping with addiction or investigation into female coming-of-age braids all three threads in a common story informed by all these aspects. The result is an entertaining one-and-some-person show. I would have appreciated the clarity that comes from dedication to one of these threads, perhaps going deeper into the complicated interplay between budding sexual identity and a childhood spent marginalized, but that's not quite germane to Germaine. Come for the story of a strong woman who walked her ow... full review

If you have siblings you will LOVE this show! Even if you're an only child, you'll be able to relate to the funny, touching, wild moments of youth. Everyone had a childhood but no one is able to quite articulate it into a highly entertaining show like this! Bravo!... full review

I was completely tricked by the creative team of "Germaine." Convinced that I was in for a nostalgic, reflective, joyful, hilarious, experience with sequined dancers and a homage to Axl Rose, I let down my guard. It was then I was immediately struck with one of the most heartfelt, sensitive and personal reveals I have witnessed outside of my own family gathering. Well played, Team Germaine. ... full review
