This is the second time I've seen Theatre of Note's production of "Rise," the first having been at a pre-Fringe performance starring Jenny Flack in the role of Elizabeth. I'm glad I came back to see it again with Chantelle Albers as Elizabeth, because a simple casting change transforms the play into a very different (though equally as good) show, illuminating the strength of Josh Fardon's writing. It's an intriguing - and confusing! - story that warrants repeated views. Despite some of the more serious topics that are addressed, it can be very funny, and is in good hands with two facile actors that handle the comedic moments well. "Rise" asks more questions than it answers (characteristic of Fardon's work), and although Theatre of Note prese... full review

"Rise" was a truly fantastic show. Troy Blendsell and Chantelle Albers were fiery, engaging, and entertaining. These characters are difficult to pull off--in the wrong hands they could be annoying or off-putting. But these actors made them truthful and real. I would definitely recommend seeing this show.... full review

Joshua Fardon is certainly a unique and talented voice. The three quick plays I saw were like weird, intelligent short stories. I was completely captivated the whole time. Very well- directed and an enjoyable ride--certainly worth 40 minutes of your time!... full review

We enjoyed this 60 minute play-Rise. The first 45 minutes were fantastic but the last 15 were much darker and slower. Very good acting.... full review

Thoroughly enjoyed myself then had a wonderful debate about it following. Strong performances from both actors in a smartly-penned script. A great ride and worth checking out!... full review

Rise is a captivating piece of work. From the moment it starts you know it's going to be a roller coaster ride with many twists and turns. Joshua Fardon's writing never disappoints and this was no exception being a story that leaves the audience talking about it long after the curtain falls. His ability to create such beautifully flawed, vulnerable characters teetering on the edge of sanity is spellbinding. Bravo to actors Troy Blendell and Chantelle Albers for the intensity of their performances and ability to bring the loneliness of their characters to life, and to director Kevin Hoffer for his subtle yet poignant direction. ... full review
