What I liked

Brenda Varda is a multi-talented madwoman, and in this show she uses her considerable skills as cabaret singer, pianist, lyricist, songwriter, actor, and social commentator to address the global history of the dress. She vamps, vogues, struts, primps, dresses, undresses, opines, and questions the very purpose of female fashion, all to delicious and highly intelligent effect. With the humor of Dorothy Parker and a series of beautifully grotesque, dadaist postures and poses, backed up by luscious original cabaret songs and a live bass player, Varda seduces us into deep-think about one of the world’s largest industries, second only to oil. Such fun to watch such a skilled and entertaining performer utilize zany theatrics to address real questions.
