My overall impression

Only a performance so convincing and a story told with such perfection could cause me (and my friends) to search eagerly online to find anything we could about the life and music of LeRoy “Phat Trane” Johnson. Eventually accepting the fact that this “person” only exists in the mind and soulful renderings of its brain child, Brandon Sharkey. When you enter the lounge to sit down to enjoy your G&T, let the entirety of this “gig” transport you through the tragedy and richness of Phat Trane’s life. It’s not just a play, it is the creation of a character told with such heartbreak and humor, that immediately you find you are connected in some strange way to this man and his “tin sandwich”. To be honest, I am still not entirely convinced that Brandon Sharkey exists, and this isn’t just LeRoy having one last laugh at our expense.
