Review by RYAN LISMAN

June 11, 2018

What I liked

The acting was strong overall, in particular, Matt Kelly, his commitment to his performance is out of this world.

What I didn't like

Despite the comedic nature of the show, I think there could be some additional moments where the stakes are heightened and the dark nature of these gay conversion camps can be brought to light.

My overall impression

There is definitely some interesting elements in play with Converted. The topic is very relevant and important. I personally would have liked to have seen those topics being treated with more weight, but the comedic route that the play took is still a valid option to mock the absurdity of the gay conversion camps. There are some great performances here, and I think it’s worth seeing.
