The Thirty-Three, written by Zackery Alexander and directed by Alicia Patterson, is a play about the meaning of life. Set in present day, the play sheds light on the questions we think of every time we swirl in that often needed drunken stupor after a long day’s work.
Reilly and Dhyrce are two such young women struggling against the pressures of society, work, and the human condition, wondering why they must continue to struggle despite their best efforts otherwise. Forced to work together by happenstance, they play off of each other’s strengths and weaknesses, questioning not only their own motives, but the very motives of life itself.
The Thirty-Three forces us to think of who we are when we step into someone else’s shoes. Who is God when we write our own story?
