Darkly is damned good. One-person shows are tough enough to do well, especially for a full hour, and yet All Aboard nails it. Worth seeing purely to witness a master storyteller give it their all, but also for the well-crafted satire of American culture told through a Southern lens that feels all too timely.
What I didn't like
I’ve got nothing.
My overall impression
Human dynamo dark drag clown Dandy Darkly delivers delightful diction in the tradition of Southern gothic. The seasoned storyteller and skilled showman spins a twisted tall tale centering on the fictional town of Gaybird, Alabama and its colorful inhabitants, blending horror, hope, and homily with an animated, passionate delivery that keeps audiences engaged throughout the grueling (for the performer) hour-long monologue.
